Our Services
We cover many areas in the High Court London, specialising particularly in patent work, intellectual property, etc., in the Commercial, Chancery and Queen's Bench Divisions, and have been involved in this area of highly complex work since 1871. We are frequently asked to provide a Daily Transcript service to our clients both in RealTime and conventional mode, and our extensive in-house library ensures we have speedy and easy access to Statutes and case law, vitally important in these areas of work to ensure that judgments are revised and dispatched expeditiously. We are also the official shorthand writers to HMPO for the Trade Mark and Opposition hearings which take place at the new Patent Office, Central London, and we are appointed court reporters to the House of Commons Select Committee.
We have provided Court Reporters for American, Canadian and Australian Deposition work for many years. In order to work with US Government departments, we have become DUNS registered (Data Universal Numbering System) via Dun and Bradstreet, and CAGE registered (Commercial and Government Entity), an ID number required by contractors working for the US Government. This department has now developed into a specialised service operating from our Deposition Centre - the first of its kind in the UK - dealing with bookings for lawyers out of normal UK business hours.
RANGE OF SERVICES:
Technical and Litigation Support
We offer a complete Litigation Support Service as well as a Deposition Service tailored to meet the needs of our clients. Transcripts are produced in all the usual formats for the United Kingdom, the US and Canada.
RealTime reporting
This service provides an instant transcript of the proceedings in the English language. We use CaseViewNet, a Realtime transcript viewer software which offers the most advanced Realtime interaction technology available. Information may be accessed via www.stenograph.com. A video presentation of CaseViewNet is available.
Department of Trade & Government Inquiries
We are highly skilled in this area of work having been engaged on numerous highly confidential and high profile City investigations by the DTI and associated Government agencies. A core number of Reporters are used to maintain continuity and, most importantly, confidentiality. We are on the approved list of firms to attend such inquiries and in the past have been involved in all main Heathrow/Gatwick/Stansted Airport Inquiries and many Road Inquiries.
Bankruptcy/Insolvency investigations
Many major firms of accountants use our services in connection with such investigations.
Tape Transcription
In order to ensure the accurate transcription of judicial matters from recorded media, the Lord Chancellor's Department set up a Tape Transcription Panel many years ago. Marten Walsh Cherer has been a member of this panel since its inception and therefore has many years' experience of transcribing tapes of proceedings in the High Court in London, the Crown Courts throughout England and Wales, police and Customs and Excise interviews, and highly sensitive child abuse video interviews, etc.
